Vernon is the largest community in the North Okanagan and is situated 46 Km (29 miles) north of Kelowna in the Okanagan Valley just a 25min drive from Kelowna International Airport.The North Okanagan consists of 6 communities including Vernon, Coldstream, Armstrong, Spallumcheen, Enderby and Lumby. The main economic driving force of the North Okanagan is agriculture, forestry and tourism.
Greater Vernon is nestled between three lakes, the north end of Okanagan Lake, Kalamalka Lake (the “Emerald Lake of Many Colours”) and Swan Lake. Although sparkling lakes and beaches make Vernon a popular summer destination, Silver Star Mountain Ski Resort and its Victorian charm also makes Vernon a popular winter destination located 25 km (15.5 miles) northeast of Vernon and covers over 3,000 acres and boasts some of the best power skiing in the world.
